Left Badajoz to drive west to Lisbon.
Portugal
Arrived at a Camping Lisboa just outside the city but easy enough to get an Uber. Crossed the ‘10-mile’ bridge. Quite a lot of traffic!
Portugal
Had a full day walking around, started at the Time Out Market, then up to Alfama the old part of the city. Listened to a Fado performance in the evening, which was very good. Had dinner in Bairro Alto, lots of bars . Finished the evening in a Jazz bar.
Portugal
Long sprawling city along the coast, famed for its surfing beaches. Lots of sea mist so couldn’t see much of the coast! Campsite was ok, lots of space and able to walk into the main centre, though not a great deal to see. Lots of restaurants and surf shops.
Portugal
Lovely walled hill top town. Cobbled streets and lots of character, though really busy with’day-trip’ tourists. Stayed in a hotel just outside the city to have a break ‘Casa de Campo Sao Rafael’. Really enjoyed this and lovely to have some space. Had a memorable dinner in the town - got charged twice due the starter but the host was very conciliatory!

Did a quick stop in Nazaré on route and had done lunch. Another popular ‘sea-side’ and surfing destinatio. Then on to Coimbra, the old capital of Portugal and home to its oldest and biggest University (a UNESCO site). Good campsite up a hill, stayed put the first night to relax.

Had to do laundry and found a launderettte nearby. Had a great lunch in a local bar ‘Tintos e Tantos’, very nice host/owner. Relaxed at the campsite then went out into the city. Had a fab Japanese meal then an interesting chat with the owner of a local wine/port shop near the Sao Brasil Jazz Club. Went to the Jazz gig on but not to our taste - very experimental!

Stayed in Orbitur Canidelo campsite in the Villa de Gaia area, 8km from Porto, by the sea. Raining and windy when we arrived, took a walk but stayed in the van.
Portugal
Went into Porto to the Ribeira area by the river, near Pont Luis Bridge, the old area of Porto opposite all the Port houses. Then walked up to Boahao, had a Franceshina (a special sandwich) in Lado B. Did more waking, found the market then ended up back on the other side of the bridge. Sadly very rainy and wet by then.
