Steph Suggests: This is right across the road from your hotel and you could go and see the fabulous library there and 'The Book of Kells'; a masterpiece of early medieval Celtic art featuring intricate knots, mythical beasts, and human figures.The library is wonderfully old - something out of Harry Potter! It doesn't take that long to get around either (no more than about 1 hr) for a self guide.

For dinner, go to Russells Seafood Bar, a modern establishment which champions a farm-and-sea-to-fork ethos, working with seasonal and local ingredients. The bar also stocks over 50 Irish whiskeys, so it’s an ideal spot for a tipple before bed.

Steph suggests for your free day in the area: Adare has some delightfully old-style cottages which makes this Ireland’s prettiest village (allegedly) - so bring your camera and get snapping. Pat Collins Bar is a fine place for lunch, with Irish classics such as bacon and cabbage on the menu. They do a great pint of Guinness as well. When you’ve had your fill, check out Adare Desmond Castle on the outskirts of the village. The ruins here date from the 13th century. Or enjoy a stroll around the quiet village park, a green oasis that’s home to an array of local wildlife.

Steph suggests for your last evening:Take an Uber to Temple Bar (pedestrianised neighbourhood) and have a drink (more Guinness?) in one of the bars here to soak up traditional live music (very toe-tapping). Try a boxty (a trad. Irish potato pancake) - often filled or topped with yummy savoury stuff!You might also be able to hunt down the statue of Molly Malone (with her 'cockles and mussels' and fondle her breasts (I wish I was kidding!).
