Must see! #2 stave church to visit.The oldest wooden church still in existence in Norway and the only stave church in the world recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its construction dates back to approximately the year 1130, although traces of at least two previous churches have been found on the site, the first of which could date back to 1060. The oldest wood used in the church actually comes from a tree that began to grow in 765, a detail that testifies to the incredible preservation capacity of Norwegian resinous wood.
